Camden is unfortunately a place that deals with crime and its resulting trauma on a daily basis. As one who was at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, I experienced a sad event and also how powerful healing can be through solidarity, of friends and strangers alike. As a community, we suffered together, and through that, healed together. In a small effort to participate, rather than ignore or observe, the suffering of families who have lost a loved one to violence in Camden, I will make a small cross for the family of each victim in 2013. They will be made from pews from Holy Name Church.
